Well, July just happened. Let’s get to the favorites.
Happy National Lipstick Day! To celebrate, let’s talk about my current favorite lipsticks. I’m trying to get into them more, specifically the matte long-wear lipsticks. Revlon’s new line of liquid lipsticks, Ultra HD Matte Lip Color, seemed like the perfect gateway into a popular and potentially very expensive world. I love the idea of applying a lipstick in the morning and not really having to worry about touching up or reapplying multiple times a day. While I find this particular line not to be as matte and intense as some of the other brands and lines I’ve seen, I’m happy with how long they last. The colors you see here are Seduction the nude shade and Flirtation, the pink shade.
Moving on, there’s another blush/eye shadow palette I’ve fallen in love with. Tarte teamed up with Youtuber Bunny, otherwise known as Grav3YardGirl, to create the Swamp Queen Eye and Cheek Palette. This lovely has a bronzer, blush, and highlighter as well as 9 gorgeous eye shadows. Each one is SUPER pigmented so a little goes a very long way. But if you go overboard, they are incredibly blendable. They are also quite glittery so keep that in mind. As a bonus, the palette itself smells like hot chocolate mix. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Next up is something that I forgot I loved, but rediscovered them in this last month. I do love my Ray Ban Sunnies, but I can’t deny the awesomeness of Target Sunnies. Sometimes, you don’t have to spend a crap ton for something cute and useful. I bought this pair a few years ago. And while they’ve certainly taken a beating, they’ve held up quite well. And because they only cost $13, I don’t feel like they are so delicate.
I know Spin classes and Crossfit are all the fitness rage, but hubs and I have fallen in LOVE with Orange Theory Fitness. This particular type of workout is an hour long, high intensity interval session that combines cardio, strength, resistance, and various calisthenics to get your heart rate going. You wear a heart rate monitor during the class which projects you heart rate on a screen to keep an eye on your fitness level. Your goal is to get at least 12 Splat Points, based on your heart rate. If you get at least 12-20 points your body will continue to burn calories for up to 24 hours. The class flies by because the work out is constantly changing, and the coaches are both encouraging and helpful with it comes to the proper techniques needed to maximize the workout without injuring yourself. And an added bonus, you can use your heart rate monitor outside of class, synced with the app, to keep your Splat Point count going.
My last favorite is an app the hubs and I use on our phones as well as Apple TV. The Qello Concert app is like Pandora but with concerts. You can browse playlists or search specific artists to watch and listen to concerts. We love to put this on as background sound when we’re cleaning, reading, working, etc. A subscription is required but it’s not more than a Netflix or Hulu subscription.
Now that July is over…let’s do this August!
