My favorites for the month of March were pretty much all in the beauty range this time. Normally I try to mix it up, but sometimes, you can’t help what you love. Let’s get right into it.
If you noticed a color change in my hair between my Everyday Makeup post and my Eyeliner 101 post, good eye! I went back to a darker shade that I prefer. It’s nice and shiny and in the sun you can even see the hints of purple we mixed in. When Isaac at The Den salon in Downtown Long Beach (a veritable hair god) was prepping my hair for styling, he sprayed this heavenly concoction into my hair. Turns out it was the Kenra Blow Dry Spray. The smell is AMAZING. Like, knock you on your feet, you wanna smell this smell all day kind of amazing. And bonus, it protects your hair when you use hot tools for styling. Win, win.
Speaking of smelling good, whenever the weather warms up a bit, I like to reach for perfumes with a lighter, more sweet but floral scent. Daisy by Marc Jacobs is essentially spring in a bottle. It’s soft and feminine. And a bit sweet too. And you can’t go wrong with a bottle with bright pink daisies on top!
Next is a fairly new addition to my beauty arsenal but I had to include it. It’s just so stinkin’ pretty. A new Mineralized Skinfinish highlighter by MAC, Lightscapade, is just stunning. There are so many different facets of light and color to this highlighter. I wasn’t sure if I would like it at first. While it is beautiful in the package, my skin tone is olive and tan, more so now that I’m able to run outside more, I wasn’t sure if it would actually show up on my skin but I was wrong. It adds such a sun-kissed glow to any area you want to highlight without looking like you doused yourself with body glitter.
For lips this month I found myself reach for Urban Decay’s Sheer Liar. It has the color payoff and formula of a true lipstick but the smooth application and feel of a balm. The staying power is great too. I’d say I can get through three cups of coffee before having to reapply.
Last up is something I never thought I’d be interested in. I have been seeing blog posts and youtube videos popping up all over the place about creating your own palettes with products like Z Palettes where you can depot your shadows from their original packaging and keep it all contained in one palette. Instead of having to carry around four different Naked palettes, you could combine them all into one. While I’m not on that level of being able to lose the classic Naked packaging, I was able to take a broken Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette and turn it into something usable. The mirror of the palette had shattered and I was constantly having to remove pieces of glass to use the shadows. Now I don’t have to do that anymore. I found this particular metallic palette on Etsy, but you can find them just about anywhere.
So that’s what I was loving in the last month. What about you? Do your monthly favorites change around or do your tried and true loves?
